Maryland criminal records are available from a variety of locations throughout Maryland depending upon the type of case, the crime(s) and the history of the person involved. Included are instructions on how to find information for closed/prior felony, misdemeanor and DC traffic cases, open felony cases, open misdemeanor cases and open DC traffic cases.
Computer systems contain records from 1974 to the present. PDID numbers, docket numbers and a disposition of the case are all available in the computer system. At least one accurate name (including middle initial), a PDID number or a date of birth is needed to search the records.
Information is usually disseminated in the for of a PDID printout or case summary printout. PDID’s provide a list of past and pending crimes, including docket numbers, counts and information on the disposition of the case. If the case is pending, this printout will also include information about upcoming court dates and the current judge.
Records are not always guaranteed to be perfectly accurate. Books are arranged by year and listed alphabetically by defendant’s last name. Most books go back to about 1972.
