המילה אסלאם פרושה = מעניין (באה מהבניין אפעל שמקביל לבנין הפעיל בעברית – שם פעולה).
ברוב המקרים ביש החלפה בין ש ל - ס בערבית ובעברית:
תשעה בערבית = תסעה בערבית, עשר בעברית = עסרה בערבית.
אפעל = הפעיל אפעאל = הפעלמה אסלאם = השלמה
השלמה במובן של רצון האל במלואו. למעשה, הכנעה, כניעה מוחלטת לרצון האל. לב ליבו של רצון האל, ללא שאלות, ללא ויכוחים/דיונים ובוואדי ללא כעסים – היא יסוד היסודות של העניין.
