Stella Quick Reference
Model Building Level The world view is where comments / information for each item is entered.
The chi-squared view is the construction view, where formulas are entered and relationships are built. Always build your models in the chi-squared view. Stocks contain variables, which have flows coming in or out of them. They contain non-negative values by default, but can be changed to accommodate both positive and negative values. Flows represent changes in stock over time. They are uni-directional (can only increase or decrease a stock, but not both), by default, but can be bi-directional. Converters hold constants, unit transformations, or ratios. They can be used to modify flows and calculate initial values of stocks. Connectors represent relationships between two items in the Stella model. Graphs are an output tool, which can show the values of stocks, flows, or converters over time or other independent variables. The A tool is a text box tool used to add text to the model. It’s good for explanations. Use this tool to insert pictures or movies from a file or the clipboard. Use this tool to change the colors of text, graphs, buttons, or background. Use this tool to delete objects. Drag it over the object you want to delete and click on it. Interface Level The slider bar allows you to experiment with input parameters by sliding the bar. The dial allows you to experiment with input parameters by turning the knob.
The input table allows you to set several input parameters at the same time.
Buttons can be used for navigation or menu shortcuts such as “Run.”
